An error has been made in completing the title assignment. What can I do?Listed below are unacceptable corrections and solutions: Unacceptable Corrections: Alterations or corrections to the face of a title or manufacturer's statement of origin. Solution: Obtain new documents from the issuing agency reflecting the correct information. Unacceptable Corrections: Erasures. Solution: Obtain replacement documents reflecting correct information. Unacceptable Corrections: Use of correction fluid in all areas in the title assignment except the address field. Solution: Obtain replacement documents if correction fluid was used in any area except the address field. Unacceptable Corrections: Total blocking out of Information. Solution: Obtain replacement documents Unacceptable Corrections: Incorrectly recorded lien or security interest holder. Solution: Obtain a lien or security interest release from the incorrectly recorded lien or security interest holder. Acceptable Way to Make Corrections To a Title AssignmentLightly line through the incorrect information so that it is still visible. Legibly enter the correct information above the incorrect information. The processing clerk must see what was originally entered to make sure important information (i.e. An indication that the vehicle is salvage, a lien holder's name, etc.) has not been purposely covered up. Person(s) required to complete the title assignment must complete and sign a T-11 Affidavit of Correction. Attach the completed T-11 affidavit to the title since it must accompany the title when it is being submitted with an application for re-titling.
When a T-11 Affidavit of Correction Cannot Be UsedUnacceptable Corrections : Incorrect lien or security interest holder shown Solution: Obtain a lien or security interest release from the incorrectly recorded lien or security interest holder. Unacceptable Corrections: Odometer reading Solution: Obtain a completed T-107 Odometer Discrepancy Affidavit from the point the discrepancy first occurred up through the current owner(s). This may require the completion of more than one T-107 Odometer Discrepancy affidavit. Unacceptable Corrections: Purchase or transfer date Solution: Obtain a replacement title; pay a $10 title penalty fee or provide a copy of the front and back of the check between the seller and buyer verifying the correct purchase date. The processing clerk does not know if the alteration of the purchase date was made to avoid paying the $10 title penalty.
