*Farm trucks operating interstate in this category must obtain an Apportioned tag from the department's IRP Section of Motor Vehicle Division.

No tag is required when a trailer weighing less than 3,500 pounds factory weight is used exclusively to haul agricultural products from one place on the farm to another or from one farm or field to another.

No tag is required for farm trailers, with no springs, used in hauling unprocessed farm products to their first market destination and trailers that are pulled from a tongue and used primarily to transport fertilizer to the farm.

Trailers being hauled interstate by a power unit registered under IRP and operated in the State of California must obtain an apportioned trailer tag.

*All trailers used as a common or contract carrier (for hire) and leased or rented utility trailers may be issued this tag. This tag cannot be transferred to another trailer. Once the trailer is sold or transferred, the tag is invalid.

Definition: Forest products are products such as pulpwood, pulpwood chips, logs, raw gum, fuel wood, bark, pine straw, pine cones and other unprocessed products of the forest. It does not include lumber, which is a manufactured product, or any other product manufactured or distilled from the trees of the forest.

*Note: Owners of trucks or truck-tractors to whom forest product tags have been issued may transport skidders, tractors, loaders and other logging equipment owned by the owner of such trucks or truck-tractors.

*Issued 'free' for decals/tags lost in the mail when the owner applies for a replacement within ninety (90) days of mailing (A police report or a completed Report of &/or Surrender of Georgia License Plate, Form T-158, if police report cannot be obtained & a completed signed Affidavit of Non-Receipt of an Original License Plate/Renewal Decal, Form T-200, are required from the vehicle owner(s).

*Agricultural field-use vehicle means a commercial truck designed specifically for field applications of fertilizers, poultry litter & protection chemicals that is owned & operated by a farmer or business engaged in the sale & application of fertilizers, poultry litter & crop protection chemicals & is operated primarily off the highway.

*Important: Internal Revenue Service (IRS) Heavy Vehicle Use Tax receipt, Form 2290, stamped, must be submitted if the vehicle's gross weight is 55,000 or more lbs.

*Note: Above listed "for-hire" fees apply to all vehicles that are at any time used to haul property, other than the property of the vehicle owner, where a charge is made for such hauling. Trucks hauling fertilizer "for hire" are required to carry the proper tag according to the weight of the vehicle and load and can go to the maximum weight limit allowed by the Department of Transportation.

Note: If bus is operated over a route of fifty miles or less, the rate shall be one-half of above.

*School busses registered at a fee of $20.00 must be operated exclusively in the transportation of pupils and
teachers to and from school activities, or the transportation of the owner of the bus and the members of his immediate family.

Definition: "Limited" busses are busses operating exclusively to and from a U. S. Military Reservation located in this State over a route of not more than twenty (20) miles in length and under special franchise granted by the U. S. Department of Defense.

*Definition: Government vehicles are vehicles including busses and motorcycles owned by the State of Georgia, or by any county, city or other political subdivision of the State.
