These fees are then divided among the other IRP member-jurisdictions according to: Percentage of mileage traveled in each jurisdiction; Vehicle identification information; and, Maximum weight. IRP is specific in requiring all jurisdictions who are members of IRP to comply with the following three (3) basic principles: A single registration license plate; A single registration card (cab card); and, Allowing registrants to perform both interstate and intrastate vehicle movements. Apportioned Registration Does Not: Waive or exempt a truck operator from obtaining operating authority from any state that the apportioned vehicle travels; or, Waive or exempt the payment of the Federal Heavy Vehicle Use Tax or Motor Fuel Tax in any state; or, Permit exceeding the maximum length, width, height, axle limitations; or, Permit violation of any "bridge law", oversize permit, proof of ownership, insurance requirements or motor vehicle ad valorem tax requirements in Georgia and other states. Definition: IRP: IRP is the abbreviation for the International Registration Plan. IRP is a special plan or a reciprocity agreement between member-states and member-jurisdictions for registering vehicles that must travel in two (2) or more member-states with one member-state, the member-state where the vehicle is based. A jurisdiction may be a State or a Canadian Province. The base member-state issues one apportioned license plate and cab card for each vehicle.
