Motor Vehicle Division Drop-Off Box

In keeping with the department's commitment to provide excellent customer service to all of our shareholders, a drop-off box for title processing is available (during business hours - Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. - 4:30 p.m., excluding state holidays) in the lobby at this department's Motor Vehicle Division, (MVD), 1200 Tradeport Blvd., Hapeville, GA 30354. Instructions and Additional Information
  • Complete an MVD Title Drop-Off Transmittal form to include:
    • The name, address and telephone number of the submitter and/or company
  • Enter the following information for each application:
    • Vehicle's identification number (VIN)
    • Applicant's name(s) as shown on the application
    • Purchase or transfer date (month, day and year)
    • Check number
    • Amount of check or money order (Total fees due including any title penalties). Please do not remit cash!
  • Up to ten (10) applications may be submitted with one transmittal.
  • A separate check for each application is required. No $10 special handling fee is needed. Please do not place cash in the drop off box!.
  • Place the applications behind the transmittal form in the order listed on the form and in the following sequence:
    • Check (on top)
    • Application (beneath check)
    • Title (if applicable) beneath application
    • Power(s) of Attorney (when applicable) beneath title
    • Any additional supporting documents (when applicable) beneath the power(s) of attorney
  • Place the transmittal, documents, and checks in a sealed envelope before dropping them in the drop-off box.
  • Applications received after 2 p.m. are considered received the next business day.
  • Titles will be mailed to the appropriate party once issued. When a title cannot be issued, a letter of explanation, all documents and the check will be returned to the appropriate party by mail.

Note: The most convenient and economical way for you to process titles is through your customer's local county tax commissioner's office. Once approved, the title is printed and mailed by this department's Motor Vehicle Division (MVD) within three (3) business days of the county's entry and approval at no additional charge.

We encourage you to take advantage of one-stop shopping and apply for your customer's title and tag (or tag transfer) at the same time at the tax commissioner's office in the county in Georgia where your customer resides. Licensed motor vehicle dealers in this state may apply for their customers' titles at either this department's Motor Vehicle Division or at the tax commissioner's office where:

  • The seller is located;
  • The sale takes place;
  • The vehicle is delivered; or,
  • The owner resides.
