Dealer, Distributor, Manufacturer and Transporter License Plates

Georgia motor vehicle dealers, distributors, manufacturers and transporters may obtain special license plates (tags). To apply, submit the following to this Department's Motor Vehicle Division (MVD), Special Tags Unit:

  • A completed MV-6 application* - typed or printed in blue or black ink electronically or legibly by-hand, except for the signature(s), in your company's full legal name as shown on your state-issued license or state-issued sales tax certificate. Your name on file with all state and local licensing agencies must agree. Enter each person's full legal name and position with your company who is authorized to sign and/or pick-up documents on your company's behalf with either the State or the County Tax Commissioners' offices. The authorized person's name on this form must match their name on their valid Georgia driver's license or Georgia identification card. Each authorized person must sign. Your authorized agent will be required to show their valid Georgia driver's license or Georgia identification card when conducting business on your company's behalf with either the State or the County Tax Commissioners' offices. The information shown on your MV-6 application* will be entered into the state-maintained tag and title database that is accessible by authorized state and county personnel.
  • Important: Please keep your authorized agent list current. If there is a change in authorized agents or additional space is needed to record agents’ names, positions, and signatures, an MV-6A application* should be completed and submitted.   Click on any application or form name and/or number on this page to complete it on-line for printing, signing and submission. The MV-6 and the MV-6A are located together. When you click on either the MV-6 or the MV-6A on this page, you will first see the MV-6 application. You may then scroll down until you see the MV-6A application.
  • If you are a franchise dealer, please enter the name of each franchise in the space provided. If additional space is needed, please list on the reverse side of your MV-6 application*. Effective, January, 2004, franchise dealers will be required to pay a $25.00 franchise fee* annually to this Department's Motor Vehicle Division. For 2004, this $25.00 franchise fee should be included in your check or money order remitted with your application to either renew your existing dealer tags or to obtain new dealer tags (first-time dealer).
